Century: Age of Ashes shows first multiplayer battles on the back of your own dragon
In the upcoming multiplayer game Century: Age of Ashes, you play as a dragon rider and engage in multiplayer battles with firebreathing and fierce low-altitude flying. The game by French developer Studio Playwing was announced as a free-to-play title on Steam for 2021. Soon you will be able to climb on the back of your own dragon in high-quality Unreal 4 graphics and shoot other dragon riders out of the saddle and complete dangerous flight maneuvers over medieval fantasy scenery.

Background info about the game
Century: Age of Ashes is currently being developed by Playwing in Bordeaux, France. The first main game mode planned is a 6vs6vs6 arena match in addition to a 3vs3, in which players can compete with their own dragons, perform complex flight maneuvers and knock each other out of the sky with their dragon abilities. Initial game variants announced for release include Team Death Match, Last Man Standing, and Capture the Flag.
The game’s graphics already look very impressive, promising very action-packed and three-dimensional battles in the sky above a very detailed medieval fantasy world.

Planned character classes
For now, three different character classes are planned for release:
The Windguards are more of the classic knights who fight with shields and strong defenses in the battle for air supremacy in the Dragon Realm.
As a Marauder, the focus is on the attack and the more aggressive approach.
This dragon rider class is meant to be more stealthy and sneaky. Abilities are based on traps and mines, and tactics should be more anticipatory, luring enemies into surprising meanness.
Century Age of Ashes Closed Beta
Interested players can already register for a closed beta test on the game’s developer homepage, which is scheduled to begin in January 2021. You can register for the beta directly on the Steam page for Century: Age of Ashes.
Century: Age of Ashes Release Date
The game is already scheduled to be released on Steam in February 2021 as an Early Access title. It is also planned as a Free to Play (F2P) game, so it can be assumed that there will be an item store. To what extent the store content will then have an influence on the gameplay, is unfortunately not yet fully known.
The developers talk about the fact that the game will be launched in February first with limited game modes and features and then will be gradually expanded. In doing so, they are also asking particularly interested players to participate in the development and share their opinions with the DEVs, for example in the Discord Server to CAoAAfter the Steam release in February, a release on the Epic Games Store and for the Microsoft Store is also planned for later. It is not yet known if the game will eventually be released for consoles such as Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch at a later date.
Free to play
In the announcements on the game’s website so far, the developers write that they plan to focus on skins and various dragons for the purchasable content. Hopefully, they will keep this positive approach permanently, because then Pay2Win in the game would be excluded.
Unfortunately, such intentions often change during the life of a Free2Play game. So whether Century: Age of Ashes will be able to offer a fair game system without purchasable advantages in the long run, only time will tell. But a purely skin-based store, such as in Fortnite, is planned for release, which sounds positive in the approach already.
